Leafs' 2012-13 Opener at Rogers Center!
Just announced a few moments ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs are extending their next season's home opener to Rogers Center. With the New Year's game already scheduled and confirmed against Detroit, the visiting team for this match will be the St. Louis Blues, as representing a former-opposition pro hockey league of the 1920s, the NHA. Back in 1931, it was the Toronto Redshirts, a failed 2nd GTA pro team, which then relocated as the St. Louis Eagles.
In order to accommodate the surging ticket demand, 1,100 special pre-order forms will be handed out, beginning at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday morning. As part of the celebration towards Maple Leaf Hockey, ticket hopefuls will be required to visit all three life-time homes of the team: Varsity Arena, Maple Leafs Gardens, and the Air Canada Center. Once all three forms are collected, in order, a non-refundable $19 entry fee is thus required for entering the draw. 14 lucky entrants, representing the Leafs' 1914 first Cup victory, will each be able to purchase a unique, Behind the JumboTron, grand seating ticket.
When asked about the suddenness of this event, a spokesperson stated that they wanted to get the game in, at the big stadium, before an upcoming real turf conversion - beginning immediately after the MLB post-season - as of next October.
In effect will be a Sweater code requirement for purchasers of any Lower-level tickets. Attendees at the game, excluding season ticket holders, will need to wear their official NHL Maple Leafs sweaters when entering. All rows 16-23 and 37-46 fans will be required to have their White, home-side, sweaters; all others will need to be wearing a Blue, visiting-side, sweater.
For November’s 100th annual Grey Cup game, plus any potential Argonaut home playoff games, the CFL has contracted Ronald Wilson Park in Buffalo to subhost its Toronto-based events. Any affected playoff matches will be situated for the Wednesday, during midweek. The Grey Cup itself will remain scheduled for the Sunday - but may still be delayed one week in the occurrence of a Bills' home game, if also scheduled during the same weekend.
Fortunately the Rogers Center already has its own built-in ice surface. However, given the necessity of pre-testing for NHL in-game quality, the Blue Jays, also owned by Rogers Communications, have forwarded their official forfeiture of their ending 3-day @home series for 2012. A spokesman also said that, while unfortunate, a regular Leafs game will make up for any lost revenues temporarily incurred by the Blue Jays. Their owners, Rogers Communications, together with Bell Canada as joint partners, are currently involved in considering a potential purchase of MLSE, the owner of the Maple Leafs franchise, later this summer.
For Bell's side, they will get to have one of their own 2010 Vancouver Olympics Torch carriers dropping the game-time puck, via the CN Tower's new EdgeWalk. Using an attached 'micro parachute', similar to last winter’s Legoman near-space astronaut, an overnight staffer will be allowed to make various test tosses unto the center ice's bullseye. For the actual day's unfrozen waffle toss, with the crowd in attendance, the selected person will use that staffer's advice as to accuracy and wind strength adjustment.
This will be great news for fans of pro hockey’s greatest ever team. Be sure to gather all three available pre-order entry draw forms this Sunday morning! Go Leafs Fans Go.

Well, I'm doubting had this entry even got read at all. Not via my stats, lol. That's alright, Bob-XP didn't go over either, in its time.
I chose here to error on the fictitious side, just in case of anyone 'buying in' and driving into the city to lineup for a April Fool's ticket draw.
For what its worth... [the time stamp] 8:07 p.m. translates into 20:07 when using a 24-hour clock. Or 19:67, if you will ;)
