Over 1 in 4 cycling deaths in Ontario.
Yesterday, the local MSM - with yet another Gov't Monied Committee Report - went to town with their annual mandatory bicycle helmet story. Some people simply cannot be reasoned with as to "allowing" personal freedom and decision making. So forget about all of the evidenced failed experiences throughout the developed world with this nanny state law. Forget about the lack of statistical improved safety records and the real results of vastly reduced cycling participation. Forget about the obesity epidemic of young persons (for which simple physical activities are merely one factor). Forget about the flimsy nature of modern era bicycle manufacturing and product development. Foreget about inquiring as to the differing roll-outs of bike paths and bike lanes, shared paths and lanes, and urban road planning inititives between suburbs, small towns and city cores, and also between countries with topographical /year-round weather differences.
Then read my comment submitted at yesterday's article at the Toronto Star:
Over 1 in 4?
- "only" 27 per cent of cyclists killed were wearing helmets. There's your headline. Over one in four bicycle deaths WITH helmets worn - in an optional use (adults) province. Who could have guessed it: styrofoam (sp) nanny state doesn't protect against an ordinary 2000 lb metal machine.

CQ - I've written fairly often - here in the past - as to my own non-acceptance of cycling helmet wearing FOR REAL REASONS instead of the stupidly man-on-the-street oft quoted, "how it looks".
(It's a Monday):
Keep in mind, for those who enjoy automatically accepting what much of MSM and Nanny State politics say: these are the same people that gushingly poster-up "Luka (Magnotta) Glam" on top of every other news report and then also cherry-pick for only the single most innocent and youngest-aged photo of other serious criminals. Did you know that the Greyhound Bus beheader has already been given day parole? Ahhh, the suffering misunderstood man. These are the same people that quibble over harsh treatments of upper middle class public teachers, doctors, parks staff, G20 police officers, and all other highly paid individuals while routinely supporting spending cuts as first made against the most vunerable individuals. Like Liam Reid (George Smitherman - a high school dropout and failed first term Ont. Gov't Cabinet appointee - made about $160,000 last year consulting Ryerson University.) There is always money available - for their own. Or the proposed firings of special education staff in Toronto, before anything else is affectedly considered.
Instead of dealing with any real challenges and issues - it is, for diversion, all about their ever-increasement of falsely feel good enforced mandatory socialism. With themselves*, of course, properly stationed above the lowly masses.
* And don't be misguided into thinking that it is an one-side political problem either. Ontario's Conservatives are every bit as bad as our Liberals and New Democrats. They just bluster differently. Different friends, same ol' assholic public fleecing graft.

Tuesdays are the worst of Mondays, lol. That only means a "Monday" is still around, for even longer.
Last week, in contrast, was all Thursdays and Fridays, for me.
